UDHAMPUR, April 22, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday asserted that preventing a repeat of the Pahalgam terror attack remains the government’s top priority, emphasizing coordinated efforts between the Centre, UT administration, and security agencies.
Paying tribute to the victims on the first anniversary of the 2025 attack, Abdullah said the region stands united in ensuring such tragedies never occur again. “Even if such attempts are made, we will not allow them to succeed,” he said, reaffirming commitment to security and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing tourism concerns, the Chief Minister expressed optimism about a steady flow of visitors for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, and general tourism, despite the impact of last year’s attack.
Separately, Abdullah called for an immediate end to the ongoing West Asia conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, warning of its global repercussions including rising oil prices and disrupted supply chains. While noting India’s relative stability, he cautioned that a prolonged conflict could worsen the situation worldwide.
