SRINAGAR, April 27, 2026 : In a significant action, authorities have declared a school in Shopian as an “unlawful entity” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), citing alleged links with a banned organisation.
The order was issued by Anshul Garg following a detailed dossier submitted by the district police.

The action targets:
- Darul Uloom Jamia Sirajul Uloom, located in Imam Sahib area
⚠️ Key Allegations
Authorities cited multiple concerns, including:
- Alleged links with Jamaat-e-Islami (banned in 2019)
- Control by individuals affiliated with the banned outfit
- Placement of such individuals in key administrative and academic roles
- Creation of an environment conducive to radicalisation
- Some former students allegedly involved in militant activities
💰 Financial Irregularities
The dossier also flagged:
- Lack of financial transparency
- Suspicious handling and restructuring of funds
- Possible diversion or misuse of institutional finances
🛑 Official Stand
Authorities stated that based on intelligence inputs and field verification, there were sufficient grounds to believe that the premises were being used for activities linked to an unlawful association.
The move reflects continued efforts to curb activities deemed a threat to security and maintain stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
