DODA, May 2, 2026 : A major landslide has severely disrupted traffic movement on the crucial Doda–Kishtwar Road after a massive stretch was blocked near Gatsoo close to Pul Doda early Saturday morning.
According to officials, the landslide occurred in the early hours, leading to a complete blockage of the road and bringing vehicular movement to a standstill on this vital stretch connecting the districts of Doda and Kishtwar.
Traffic police confirmed that the magnitude of the landslide is significant, with heavy debris covering the road stretch. In response, authorities have mobilized men and machinery at the site, and clearance operations are currently underway to restore connectivity.
However, officials cautioned that reopening the route may take time due to the scale of the obstruction and ongoing safety concerns in the area.
Commuters and transporters have been strongly advised to avoid travel on the Doda–Kishtwar route until the debris is fully cleared and traffic movement is declared safe. Authorities have assured that timely updates will be issued as the situation progresses.
The incident once again highlights the vulnerability of hilly road networks in the region, especially during unstable weather conditions, and the need for caution while traveling through landslide-prone zones.
