Bandipora, May 25, 2026 : Stating that narco-terrorism and drug trafficking pose one of the gravest threats to Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday asserted that the administration will not rest until the Union Territory becomes completely drug-free.
Addressing a massive gathering at SK Stadium Bandipora during the Mega Padyatra organised under the โJ&K Nasha Mukt Abhiyanโ, the Lieutenant Governor said that money generated through drugs is being used to fuel terrorism and destroy families across Jammu and Kashmir.
โJ&K faces the highest threat from narco-terrorism. Drug money is funding terrorism. Because of terrorism, hundreds of children have been orphaned and many innocent lives have been lost. We will make J&K drug-free and there will be no fear at all,โ he said.
Despite unfavourable weather conditions, the Lieutenant Governor reached Bandipora and personally led the anti-drug padyatra. โWhen I came here the weather was unfavourable, but I still came,โ he told the gathering.
He highlighted that people from every section of society are actively participating in the anti-drug movement, including women, students, civil society members, NGOs, religious leaders, lawyers and common citizens.
Detailing the administrationโs intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, Manoj Sinha revealed that nearly 800 FIRs have been registered in the last 45 days, while around 950 people have been arrested in drug-related cases. Additionally, nearly 850 PIT-NDPS cases have also been registered.
โOur police force is fighting strongly against drug peddlers. Thousands have been arrested so far. Properties linked with drug networks are being attached while driving licences and passports are also being seized,โ he said.
The Lieutenant Governor made it clear that there will be โno safe havenโ for narco-terrorism and drug networks in Jammu and Kashmir. He added that police and security agencies are systematically dismantling narcotics supply chains across the Union Territory.
Referring to rehabilitation efforts, he stressed that youth affected by drug addiction should be treated as victims and supported through counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
โWe have to save our future and our youth. Those affected by drugs will be counselled and rehabilitated because they are victims,โ he said.
Calling the anti-drug campaign a collective mission, Manoj Sinha said terrorism and drug trafficking can only be defeated through public participation and unity.
โWhen people join together, neither terrorism nor drug peddlers can affect us. This is not just a dream, it is a mission and the government will complete it,โ he added.
A large number of people participated in the padyatra held at SK Stadium Bandipora under the ongoing โ100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaanโ led by the Lieutenant Governor.
