Shopian, May 25, 2026 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out raids at two locations in Jammu and Kashmirโs Shopian district, including Darul Uloom Sirajul Uloom, which was declared an illegal entity last month, officials said.
According to officials, NIA teams conducted searches during the early hours at Darul Uloom Sirajul Uloom located in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian. The institution provides both religious and formal education to hundreds of students.
In another operation, officials said an NIA team also raided the residence of former chief of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami, Shahzada Aurangzeb, at Molu Chitragam in Shopian district.
The searches were part of ongoing investigations being carried out by the agency in connection with activities linked to banned organisations and suspected anti-national networks in the region.
