DODA, May 26, 2026 : A tragic accident occurred in Jammu & Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday when an under-construction culvert collapsed during slab pouring work near Ghill Kunan Road, around two kilometres from Gandoh sub-division, leaving one woman labourer dead and 12 others injured.
According to officials, the incident took place while construction work was underway and the structure suddenly gave way during slab laying operations, trapping several workers beneath the debris.
Rescue teams immediately launched an operation and shifted the injured workers for medical treatment.
Officials identified the deceased as Devi Kumari, 42, wife of Naresh Sahu and a resident of Chhattisgarh, who was declared brought dead.
The injured workers were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for treatment. Authorities said their condition is being closely monitored.
The injured have been identified as Kaushlya Devi, Tariq Hussain, Ravi Patil, Manu Lal, Naresh Kumar, Safdar Ali, Kaushliya Bi, Daulat Yadu, Neera Sahu, Jamat Ali, Mohan Yadu and Mashoom Ali.
The incident has raised serious concerns regarding safety measures and working conditions at construction sites. However, officials have not yet disclosed the exact cause behind the collapse.
Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident.
