Udhampur, May 29, 2026 : Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS), on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the prevailing security situation and arrangements at Kud during the ongoing tourist and pilgrimage season.
The security review meeting was held at Police Station Kud and attended by SDPO Chenani Sukhbir Singh, SHO Kud Palak Anand and other senior police officers.
During the meeting, the DIG assessed the existing security measures, law and order preparedness and arrangements made to ensure the safety, security and convenience of tourists and pilgrims visiting the region.
Officials discussed strategies to strengthen vigilance, improve coordination among security personnel and maintain smooth traffic and public movement during the peak travel season.
Following the review meeting, DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma visited the Kud market area, where he interacted with members of the public, traders, transport operators and tourists.
During the interaction, the DIG appealed to citizens to cooperate with police personnel during security checks and urged them to immediately report any suspicious persons, objects or activities to the nearest police station.
He also advised tourists and pilgrims to dial emergency helpline number 112 for any police assistance and assured them of full support from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
“The police department welcomes all tourists and pilgrims visiting the Udhampur-Reasi Range and remains fully committed to ensuring their safety and security,” the DIG said.
He further urged hoteliers, taxi operators, shopkeepers and other stakeholders associated with the tourism sector to extend maximum cooperation and hospitality to visitors.
The DIG stressed that courteous behaviour, proper guidance and timely assistance to tourists play a significant role in promoting a positive image of Jammu and Kashmir’s tourist destinations across the country.
Police officials reiterated that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain a safe, peaceful and tourist-friendly atmosphere throughout the ongoing travel and pilgrimage season.
