KUPWARA, May 30, 2026 : Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Friday visited forward units deployed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara sector to review operational preparedness and assess the effectiveness of the anti-infiltration grid safeguarding the border.

According to the Army’s Northern Command, the visit focused on evaluating security arrangements, combat readiness and the robustness of anti-infiltration measures in place along the strategically significant LoC.

“Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, visited units deployed along the Line of Control in Kupwara Sector to assess the robustness of the anti-infiltration grid and review operational preparedness,” the Northern Command said in a post on X.

During the visit, the Army Commander was also briefed on emerging technologies and innovative operational practices being adopted by troops to strengthen surveillance and combat capabilities in challenging border conditions.

He witnessed a live demonstration of innovations successfully implemented in field environments, including the integration of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (CUAS) with existing Techniques, Training and Procedures (TTPs).

Officials said the integration of advanced drone surveillance and counter-drone technologies is aimed at enhancing situational awareness, improving operational efficiency and strengthening the Army’s ability to respond effectively to evolving security challenges along the LoC.

The Army Commander appreciated the efforts of troops deployed in forward areas and lauded their professionalism, resilience and unwavering dedication while operating in difficult terrain and demanding operational conditions.

“He commended all ranks for their battle-hardened resilience, indomitable courage and relentless commitment to duty amidst a challenging operating environment,” the Northern Command stated.

Lieutenant General Sharma also emphasized the need for continuous improvement in operational capabilities through regular training, technological adaptation and refinement of battle procedures.

He stressed the importance of persistent efforts to enhance battle drills and professional skills so that troops remain technically proficient, mentally strong and tactically agile in dealing with evolving threats.

The visit forms part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen border security, maintain a robust anti-infiltration posture and ensure high levels of operational readiness along the Line of Control.
