JAMMU, June 11, 2026 : In a significant relief measure, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the timelines of two major rehabilitation and financial assistance schemes aimed at benefiting West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs) and Displaced Persons (DPs) from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Chhamb.
The extension is expected to provide eligible beneficiaries with additional time to avail themselves of the financial support and rehabilitation benefits offered under the schemes, ensuring that no deserving family is left out due to procedural or administrative delays.
The government’s decision reflects its continued commitment toward the welfare and rehabilitation of refugee and displaced communities who have faced decades of displacement and socio-economic challenges.
Officials stated that the extension will facilitate the completion of pending applications, verification processes, and disbursement of benefits to eligible beneficiaries under the respective schemes.
The rehabilitation initiatives have been designed to provide financial assistance and support to displaced families, helping improve their living conditions and address long-standing concerns related to their resettlement and welfare.
The move has been welcomed by members of the refugee and displaced communities, who have been seeking additional time to complete formalities and secure the benefits available under the government programmes.
The administration has advised all eligible beneficiaries to complete the necessary documentation and application procedures within the revised timelines to ensure timely processing of their claims.
The extension is expected to strengthen ongoing rehabilitation efforts and provide much-needed support to thousands of affected families across Jammu and Kashmir.
