Srinagar, August 11, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience widespread rainfall and thundershowers over the coming days, with the peak weather activity expected on August 11, according to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar.
Several parts of the Jammu division are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while some districts of the Kashmir division may witness brief spells of intense heavy showers.
The weather office has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers at most places across J&K, with heavy to very heavy rainfall possible at a few places in Jammu division. One or two locations may also receive very heavy rainfall during the night of August 11.
⚠️ Flash Flood & Landslide Threat
The Meteorological Centre has warned that torrential rain and intense showers could trigger flash floods and landslides at vulnerable locations. Waterlogging is also possible in low-lying areas during periods of intense rainfall.
Authorities and residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain alert and exercise caution, particularly during intense spells of rain.
🌦️ Weather Outlook: August 12–19
From August 12 to 16, light rain and thundershowers are expected at many places, with brief intense showers possible at a few locations.
Another spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers is likely across many areas from August 17 to 19, with brief intense heavy showers possible at a few places.
Residents, commuters and people living near rivers, streams, slopes and other vulnerable areas are advised to remain cautious during periods of heavy rainfall.
