BANDIPORA, AUGUST 10, 2026 : A search operation was launched in Bandipora district on Monday after a 31-year-old man went missing from Nalla Madhumati in the Nathpora area, officials said.
The missing man has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Gujjar, a resident of Yali Bonakoot in Bandipora.
Following the report of his disappearance, a joint team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police launched a search operation in and around the water channel to trace him.
Officials said teams are carrying out searches along the water channel and surrounding areas as efforts continue to locate the missing man.
Based on the circumstances, officials suspect that Showkat Ahmad Gujjar may have drowned in the water channel. However, the exact circumstances surrounding his disappearance have not yet been established.
The search operation remains underway, with rescue personnel and police continuing efforts to trace him.
