New Delhi, August 16, 2026 :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a glimpse of his morning routine on Sunday, posting a video of himself feeding cows and peacocks at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, shortly before leaving for the historic Red Fort to deliver his Independence Day address.

“Feeding my friends every morning is a daily routine,” Modi wrote in an Instagram post, recalling that the animals appeared to sense his early departure and came to meet him before he left for the Red Fort.

The video captured a calm and personal moment ahead of one of the Prime Minister’s most significant annual engagements — the ceremonial hoisting of the national flag and his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort.

A Daily Bond With Animals

Cows and peacocks have frequently featured in Modi’s social media posts, particularly during his morning walks around the lawns of his official residence. Feeding animals and birds has become a regular part of his morning routine.

Among the cows at the residence are Punganur cattle, a rare and ancient dwarf breed originating in Andhra Pradesh, known for its distinctive small stature.

The peacocks and cows have also become familiar elements of the Prime Minister’s informal digital outreach, offering followers a glimpse into moments away from official meetings and public engagements.

From a Quiet Morning to a Major National Address

The personal video came just before Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day.

During his 75-minute address, the Prime Minister placed strong emphasis on India’s youth and their role in shaping the country’s future. He referred to young people more than 50 times, outlining several initiatives and opportunities aimed at empowering the next generation.

Among the announcements were proposals involving free online coaching for competitive examinations, AI training for one crore youth, a nationwide sports talent hunt and a strengthened civil defence network.

Modi also highlighted opportunities for young Indians across emerging and strategic sectors, including manufacturing, space, nuclear energy and semiconductors.

The contrast between the intimate morning moment with animals and the subsequent national address offered a glimpse of the Prime Minister’s day before one of the country’s most watched annual events.
