NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 05, 2026 : More than 500 institutional investors, pension funds and family offices managing a combined wealth of over USD 1 trillion are expected to participate in the inaugural iBRICS Summit 2026 in New Delhi on September 12–13.
The two-day summit is being convened alongside the 18th BRICS Summit and aims to connect sovereign capital with bankable infrastructure, energy and digital-capacity projects across the 21 BRICS member states and partner nations.
According to the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute (SWFI), the gathering comes at a crucial time as BRICS economies navigate changing global trade patterns, tariff pressures and rising costs associated with dollar-based financial settlements.
Lakshmi Narayanan, SWFI Chairman and Lead Co-Chair of iBRICS, said the changing global environment is pushing funds and governments to explore new ways of allocating capital and creating direct investment channels.
FOCUS ON INFRASTRUCTURE, ENERGY & DIGITAL ECONOMY
The summit will provide a platform for investors, sovereign funds and policymakers to explore opportunities in major development sectors, particularly:
- Infrastructure and connectivity
- Energy projects
- Digital infrastructure
- Cross-border investment
- Financial technology and payment systems
A key area of discussion will be the integration of national fast-payment networks, including India’s UPI and Brazil’s Pix, along with efforts towards Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) interoperability.
The summit is expected to provide an important platform for BRICS economies and partner countries to strengthen financial connectivity, attract long-term institutional capital and develop alternative channels for cross-border investment.
With more than USD 1 trillion in represented wealth, the inaugural iBRICS Summit is set to bring significant global investor attention to the expanding economic and infrastructure opportunities across the BRICS ecosystem.
