Anantnag, May 14, 2026: Continuing its aggressive campaign against drug trafficking and the narcotics network operating in south Kashmir, Anantnag Police on Wednesday carried out a major anti-encroachment and anti-narcotics operation in the Larnoo area of Anantnag district.
The action was conducted during a joint drive at Gawran Larnoo in coordination with the Revenue Department and Forest Department, where authorities demolished two illegal shop structures allegedly linked to notorious drug peddlers.
Officials identified the accused as Asif Ali Pala, son of Ali Mohammad Pala, and Nisar Ahmad Kasana, son of Bashir Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo area in Larnoo.
According to police officials, the twin structures had been illegally constructed on encroached forest land at Gawran. Following verification and legal procedures, demolition action was initiated as part of the administration’s intensified crackdown on narcotics-related activities and unlawful encroachments.
Police stated that the operation forms part of a broader strategy aimed at dismantling the complete narcotics ecosystem in the district by targeting not only drug traffickers but also properties, assets and infrastructure allegedly created or used through proceeds generated from illegal drug trade.
Officials reiterated that strict and sustained legal action will continue against individuals involved in drug peddling, narco-financing or supporting the illegal narcotics network in any manner.
Anantnag Police further emphasized its commitment towards making the district drug-free and safeguarding the youth from the growing menace of substance abuse. Authorities also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and illegal activities in their localities.
The latest action is being viewed as a strong message against encroachment, organized narcotics operations and criminal networks attempting to exploit public land and resources for unlawful activitie.
