UDHAMPUR, May 26, 2026 : The district administration carried out a major anti-encroachment drive on Dhar Road near Mian Bagh, close to the Air Force Road in Jammu & Kashmir’s Udhampur district, removing several illegally constructed temporary tin sheds built on state land.
According to Naib Tehsildar Roun Maroof Khan, the issue had persisted for a long time, with repeated complaints being submitted to the DC Office and Tehsildar regarding unauthorized roadside structures causing public inconvenience and safety concerns.
“This issue was ongoing for a long time. Many people filed complaints that temporary sheds had been set up illegally on state land. Since this is a highway area where people gather during evenings, it increases the risk of accidents,” Khan stated.
Highlighting the sensitivity of the location, Khan revealed that the area falls near important Air Force stations and security establishments. Authorities also found that two of the sheds had CCTV cameras installed facing the road, raising serious security concerns.
“Following requests from the Air Force and Police, action was initiated. Out of seven sheds, five were removed voluntarily by the owners after notices were issued, while the remaining two were demolished by the administration,” he added.
The operation was conducted under tight administrative supervision to ensure smooth execution and maintain public order.
In a related development earlier this week, the Jammu district administration also launched a demolition drive in the Miran Sahib area against properties allegedly linked to drug smugglers as part of the ongoing crackdown on narcotics-related activities.
