SRINAGAR | JULY 07, 2026 : In a significant high-level interaction, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar on Tuesday.
General Dhiraj Seth was accompanied by General Officer Commanding (GOC), Chinar Corps, Lieutenant General Balbir Singh, along with other senior Army officers. The meeting was held as a courtesy call following General Seth’s assumption of office as the Chief of the Army Staff on June 30, 2026.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah congratulated General Seth on taking over one of the country’s most prestigious military appointments. He extended his warm wishes for a successful tenure and expressed confidence in the Army Chief’s leadership in strengthening national security and maintaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The interaction reflected the continued coordination and cooperation between the civil administration and the Indian Army in addressing security challenges and promoting stability across the Union Territory.
The meeting also underscored the importance of strong civil-military relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to ensuring peace, development, and the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
