Bandipora, August 10, 2026 : Bandipora Police have arrested two persons in connection with an alleged case involving the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl, officials said.
According to officials, the case came to light after the girl’s family approached the local police and lodged a complaint. Following the complaint, police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
Acting swiftly, police teams conducted overnight raids at multiple locations as part of the investigation and apprehended both accused persons, a police official said.
Officials said the investigation remains underway and all necessary legal procedures are being followed in accordance with the law. The minor girl has been referred for medical examination, while her statement is expected to be recorded before a Magistrate as required under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said strict legal action will be taken against the accused if the allegations are established through due process. Authorities also assured that the investigation will be conducted in a fair, impartial and time-bound manner.
