NEW DELHI, July 25, 2026 : The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday announced the withdrawal of its 37-day-long protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, stating that the decision was taken in “good faith” after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the Central Government assured the outfit that its key demands would be implemented.

Addressing a press conference at the Constitution Club in New Delhi following the third round of discussions with Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation had decided to end the agitation with the understanding that the commitments made by the government would be fulfilled within the agreed timelines.

“Cockroach Janata Party declares that we withdraw the agitation in good faith, with the understanding that the agreed-upon terms will be executed within the agreed-upon timelines,” Das said.

According to CJP leaders, the government has agreed to provide suitable compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and has also assured the withdrawal of FIRs registered against protesters across the country.

The organisation also submitted a five-point charter of demands seeking broader reforms in the education and examination systems. CJP leaders said another round of discussions with the government will be held after four weeks to review progress on those demands.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the outfit had sought ₹1 crore compensation for the families of the NEET victims. According to him, the government agreed to extend compensation in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.

Ranka added that with all immediate demands being accepted, the organisation had appealed to protesters to end the agitation peacefully and return home. He said the party would continue engaging with the government regarding long-term education and examination reforms.

The CJP also highlighted its demand for the withdrawal of FIRs filed against protesters following the July 20 “Chalo Sansad” march at Jantar Mantar. Saurav Das said the government had agreed to withdraw the cases and assured that copies of all FIRs registered, particularly those filed in Delhi, would be shared with the organisation within the next few days.

He further stated that the government has agreed to provide a written assurance regarding the withdrawal of FIRs and future legal action. According to Das, the written guarantee is expected to be shared by Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that he was stepping down in the larger interest of students to ensure that the country’s youth did not remain “trapped in a web of confusion.”

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which began as a satirical social media initiative inspired by remarks attributed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, later emerged as a leading force behind the nationwide movement demanding Pradhan’s resignation. The protests were held in association with activist Sonam Wangchuk and several student groups at Jantar Mantar.

The nationwide agitation gathered momentum following the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, which surfaced in May 2026, triggering widespread protests and renewed calls for comprehensive reforms in India’s examination system.
