SRINAGAR, June 11, 2026 : Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gyanendra Pratap Singh, on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Kashmir and stressed the importance of proactive and robust security measures to ensure the smooth, peaceful, and incident-free conduct of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
On the third and final day of his visit to the Kashmir Valley, the CRPF chief chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Group Centre (GC) Srinagar, attended by senior officers and ground commanders responsible for maintaining security across the region.
According to a CRPF spokesperson, the Director General assessed the prevailing security environment and directed security personnel to maintain heightened vigilance in view of the annual pilgrimage, which attracts lakhs of devotees from across the country.
The review meeting focused on key security priorities, including maintaining peace and normalcy in the Valley, intensifying counter-militancy operations, and strengthening security arrangements along the pilgrimage routes and other sensitive locations.
During his three-day tour, Singh also visited the Baltal base camp, one of the main routes for the annual pilgrimage, to inspect preparedness levels and evaluate the security infrastructure being put in place for the Yatra.
The CRPF chief interacted with field commanders, officers, and jawans deployed in the region and emphasized the need for professionalism, alertness, and effective coordination among all security agencies involved in safeguarding the pilgrimage.
He directed personnel to remain vigilant and ensure that all operational and logistical arrangements are executed efficiently to provide a secure environment for pilgrims throughout the Yatra period.
Authorities have planned an extensive security deployment for the pilgrimage, with nearly 50,000 CRPF personnel, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), set to be deployed across the Union Territory.
A multi-layered security grid is being established to secure the pilgrimage routes, base camps, transit points, and other strategic locations to ensure the safety of devotees and smooth conduct of the religious event.
The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, with security agencies working round the clock to ensure a safe and successful pilgrimage season.
