PULWAMA, May 19, 2026 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that the drug trade is not only destroying the lives of young people and breaking families apart, but is also being used to fund terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing participants after leading a padyatra in Pulwama under the Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan, the Lieutenant Governor said the administration was fully committed to dismantling the narcotics network and eliminating drug trafficking from the Union Territory.
“Drugs are not only destroying the lives of youth and tearing apart families, but are also funding terrorism. We must unite to dismantle this entire network. I assure the people that drug peddlers and smugglers will be eradicated,” Sinha said.
He urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the anti-drug movement and support the efforts of the administration and law enforcement agencies in building a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor said public participation was essential to defeating the menace of narcotics abuse and preventing young people from falling victim to addiction and criminal networks.
The padyatra witnessed the participation of officials, students, members of civil society and local residents, all of whom pledged support for the ongoing campaign against drug abuse and trafficking.
Officials said the Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan is being carried out across the Union Territory with the aim of spreading awareness, strengthening enforcement and encouraging community participation in the fight against narcotics.
