New Delhi, October 14, 2025 : India wrapped up a 2–0 series victory over the West Indies with a comfortable seven-wicket win in the second and final Test on Tuesday, reaffirming their dominance on home soil. However, the series — though largely one-sided — left several questions unanswered as the team prepares for the upcoming South Africa tour.
Resuming the chase on the final morning at 63 for one, India needed just an hour to complete the formalities. KL Rahul (58* off 108 balls) anchored the innings with composure, striking six boundaries and two sixes. He added a crucial 79-run stand with Sai Sudharsan (39) before guiding India to the target of 121 alongside Dhruv Jurel (6*).
The series marked Shubman Gill’s first success as India’s Test captain, a milestone that will boost his confidence heading into tougher overseas challenges.
While the victory reaffirmed India’s home supremacy, the hosts faced some resistance — particularly from West Indies centurions John Campbell and Joshua Da Silva — in the later stages of the match. The Indian bowling attack, despite moments of brilliance, at times lacked consistency, prompting concerns about depth and adaptability on foreign pitches.
The performances of India’s top-order batters also came under scrutiny, with inconsistent starts and a heavy reliance on the middle order to stabilise innings. With the South Africa Test series approaching — a much sterner test of skill and temperament — the team’s management will be keen to address these chinks.
Nevertheless, India’s dominance at home continues unabated, with the series sweep extending their unbeaten run on Indian soil.
