Abu Dhabi, May 15, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India is prepared to extend all possible support for restoring peace in West Asia during his meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi.
The high-level meeting took place shortly after Modi arrived in the United Arab Emirates as part of the first leg of his five-nation diplomatic tour, which also includes visits to four European countries.
During the talks, Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting the UAE amid the ongoing US-Israel conflict with Iran.
“We condemned the attacks on the UAE,” Modi said during his opening remarks.
The UAE, which hosts a significant US military presence, has reportedly faced Iranian strikes during the escalating regional conflict.
“The way UAE has been targeted is not acceptable, but the restraint shown by the UAE leadership in handling the current situation is praiseworthy,” Modi stated.
Highlighting the broader global impact of the conflict in West Asia, the Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to supporting peace efforts in the region.
“India is ready to extend all possible support to bring peace in West Asia,” he said.
The UAE President personally received Prime Minister Modi at Abu Dhabi Airport, underlining the strategic importance of India-UAE relations. Modi was also accorded a ceremonial guard of honour upon arrival.
Later, the Prime Minister thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the warm welcome and hospitality.
“I extend my thanks to my brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his gracious gesture in receiving me at Abu Dhabi Airport,” Modi said in a social media post.
He further expressed confidence that the visit would help deepen bilateral cooperation across key sectors including energy, investments, trade, and supply chains.
India and the UAE have significantly expanded strategic and economic ties in recent years, with cooperation spanning infrastructure, defence, technology, renewable energy, and regional security.
