Baramulla, May 15, 2026 : In a continued crackdown on the terror ecosystem and anti-national elements in Jammu and Kashmir, Sopore Police on Friday attached immovable property belonging to a proclaimed offender linked with the banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to a police spokesperson, the action was taken in connection with a case registered at Panzalla Police Station under the E&IMCO Act.
The accused has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Bhat alias Hyder, a resident of Rohama Rafiabad area in Baramulla district.
Police investigations revealed that the accused had allegedly crossed over illegally to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for arms and ammunition training and later became associated with the Hizbul Mujahideen terror network.
Officials said Bhat is presently operating from Pakistan in coordination with the terror outfit’s network across the Line of Control (LoC).
As part of the legal proceedings, Sopore Police, in coordination with the Revenue Department, attached land measuring six marlas at Daengrut Rohama and 10 marlas at Reshinar Rohama, collectively valued at several lakhs of rupees.
Police stated that the accused had been evading arrest and legal proceedings for a prolonged period despite repeated efforts by authorities. He was subsequently declared a “Proclaimed Offender” by the court under Section 88 of the CrPC.
Following court orders, the attachment process was carried out after due verification through revenue records and local inquiries, officials added.
The latest action is part of intensified efforts by security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to dismantle terror-support structures, disrupt militant networks, and proceed against individuals operating from across the border.
