SRINAGAR, June 30, 2025: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has issued show-cause notices to three political parties — All Jammu and Kashmir Republican Party, Indian People’s Conference Party, and Socialistic Democratic Party — proposing their removal from the list of registered political parties.
The move comes after it was found that these parties have not contested any elections to the Lok Sabha or State Assembly since 2019. Additionally, their current addresses are untraceable, casting doubts on their operational status.
The CEO has directed the parties to submit a written representation, affidavit, and supporting documents by July 7, 2025, to justify why they should not be delisted. A hearing is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
Failure to respond will result in appropriate action without further notice.
This action is part of efforts to ensure that only active and accountable political entities remain on the electoral rolls.
