JAMMU, May 23, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced summer vacations for schools falling under the Summer Zone of Jammu Division in view of the prevailing weather conditions and rising temperatures across the region.
Education Minister Sakeena Itoo said that summer vacations for primary classes will begin from June 1, 2026.
She further informed that schools for students studying in Classes 6th to 12th will close from June 8, 2026.
According to the government, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard students from intense heat during the peak summer season.
The announcement is expected to provide relief to students, parents and school staff amid rising temperatures being witnessed across several districts of Jammu Division.
