Ramban:- To promote the composite sufi culture and to rekindle the age old sufi culture of the area, especially among youth, Jammu Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) Sub Office Doda in collaboration with District Administration Ramban organized Sufi Festival to remember the first Sufi artist from Jammu province Abdul Raheem Aama at Banihal area of Ramban on Saturday.
On the occasion, SDM Banihal Zaheer Abbas was the chief guest and DySP Banihal was the guest of honour. The programme was organized by the Assistant Cultural Officer JKAACL Doda Salauddin.
Multilingual Sufi Mushaira, in which poets from different parts of District Ramban participated was a mix of raw talent of youth and brilliance of experienced poetry of veterans.
Beside veterans, young students of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Banihal recited their own written poetry, which is encouraging sign for sufism in the area.
The highlight of the event was famous Kashmiri poet Gulab Saify and famous singer Rashid Jhangir who enthralled the audience with their poetry and performances.
The Multi-lingual Mushaira aimed at to remember the first Sufi artist from Jammu province Abdul Raheem Aama and to polish the raw talent of the youth to divert their attention from the social evils prevalent in society was held in Government Girls Higher Secondary School Banihal.
Participants was all praise for the poets especially youth who despite very short notice, graciously agreed to be part of the Mushaira. He also appreciated the young and aspiring poets and students for showing their keenness to know their musical roots of Poetry.
The young aspiring poets and students who attended the Mushaira were completely engrossed and seem to be enjoying their traditional roots of literature especially sarcastic and humours poetry to the hilt.
The Mushaira was held under the supervision of Manshoor Banihali Ameer-e-Majlis, in which famous poets including Hassan Banihali, Zahir Banihali, Dilfigar Banihali, Gowhar Banihali and others participated. Abdul Majeed Chamalwasi, Bahar Ahmed Bahar, Khursheed Choupan and Bashir Khan and party also presented their sufi musical items.
