Kathua, June 19, 2026 : In a significant administrative action, the Kathua Police have disengaged a Special Police Officer (SPO) from service following allegations of involvement in corrupt practices and unauthorized absence from duty.
According to an official order issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, the action was taken against SPO Rishi Sharma based on information received from the District Special Branch (DSB).
The order stated that the SPO was found to have remained absent from duty without authorization and was allegedly involved in activities inconsistent with the standards and discipline expected from police personnel.
Following the disengagement, the officer has been directed to immediately surrender all government-issued property, including uniform items, arms, and ammunition issued during the course of his service.
Police authorities have also declared the post vacant, paving the way for further administrative action as per established procedures.
The move reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability, and integrity within the police force, with officials reiterating that any misconduct or violation of service norms will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law and departmental regulations.
