SRINAGAR, May 7, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday paid glowing tributes to India’s armed forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, describing the mission as a powerful symbol of the nation’s unwavering resolve to defend its sovereignty and eliminate terrorism.
In a message shared on social media, the Lieutenant Governor said that Operation Sindoor demonstrated the determination, courage, and preparedness of India’s security forces in safeguarding the country against terror threats.
“Operation Sindoor is a declaration etched in resolve that our brave armed forces are committed to protecting the country’s sovereignty and integrity at any cost. It stands as a testament to India’s firm commitment to dismantling terror networks and securing a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha stated.
Remembering the sacrifice and valor of the armed forces, he said the nation salutes the men and women in uniform whose bravery ensured a decisive response against forces responsible for targeting innocent civilians in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack.
“As we mark the anniversary of Operation Sindoor, we bow in reverence to the courage and dedication of our armed personnel who delivered a fitting response to the enemy after the tragic Pahalgam attack,” he added.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7, 2025, following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists. Indian forces carried out precision airstrikes targeting nine terror infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The military action led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with Pakistan attempting retaliatory strikes. However, the majority of those attacks were effectively intercepted and neutralized by Indian defense systems. The hostilities eventually subsided after military-level hotline discussions between officials of both nations on May 10.
The anniversary of Operation Sindoor is being observed as a reminder of India’s continued stand against terrorism and its commitment to ensuring peace, security, and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
