NEW DELHI, May 14, 2026: In a significant administrative reshuffle aimed at strengthening key operational wings of Delhi Police, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has ordered the transfer and reassignment of nine senior IPS officers serving as Special Commissioners of Police across various divisions including Law and Order, Crime, Intelligence, Traffic, Vigilance and Protective Security.
The large-scale reshuffle was carried out on the recommendations of the Police Establishment Board through an official order issued by Principal Secretary (Home) Santosh D Vaidya. The transfers involve AGMUT cadre IPS officers belonging to the 1994 to 1998 batches.
According to the order, Neeraj Thakur, a 1994 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer who was serving as Special Commissioner of Police in the Traffic Division, has been transferred and posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order Zone-II.
Devesh Chandra Srivastava, a 1995 batch IPS officer heading the Crime Division along with additional responsibility of Perception Management and Media Cell Division, has now been appointed as Special Commissioner of Police, Law and Order Zone-I.
Senior IPS officer Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, belonging to the 1997 batch, has been posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Division. He will also continue to hold additional charge of Perception Management, Media Cell and Legal Division.
Meanwhile, Manish Kumar Agarwal, a 1996 batch AGMUT cadre officer serving in the Intelligence Division with additional responsibility of Public Transport Safety Division, has been shifted to head the Traffic Division as Special Commissioner of Police.
K Jegadesan, a 1998 batch IPS officer who was serving in the Protective Security Division along with additional charge as Managing Director of Delhi Police Housing Corporation Limited (DPHCL), has been transferred as Special Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Division. He will continue to retain the additional charge of MD/DPHC.
Similarly, Ajay Chaudhry, a 1996 batch IPS officer serving in the Vigilance Division with additional responsibility of SPUWAC, has been appointed as Special Commissioner of Police, Protective Security Division.
Senior officer David Lalrinsanga, currently heading the Operations Division dealing with PCR and Communication, has been assigned additional charge of SPUWAC along with SPUNER.
Atul Katiyar, a 1997 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer serving in the Welfare Division with additional responsibilities of Licensing and Legal Division, has now been posted as Special Commissioner of Police, Vigilance Division while continuing to hold additional charge of Welfare and Licensing.
In another key development, Vijay Kumar, a 1997 batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer currently serving in the Armed Police Division, has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Public Transport Safety Division.
Vijay Kumar had earlier served as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in Jammu and Kashmir and is widely known for his role in security and counter-insurgency operations in the Union Territory.
The reshuffle is being viewed as a strategic administrative move aimed at enhancing coordination, operational efficiency and leadership across critical policing divisions in the national capital.
