BARAMULLA, May 24, 2026 : Security forces on Sunday recovered a significant cache of ammunition from a suspected hideout in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
According to officials, a joint search-and-destroy operation was launched on Saturday by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in the Nilsar orchards area of Chandoosa following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a militant hideout.
During the operation, security personnel recovered:
- 14 rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs)
- 9 booster devices
from the hideout site, officials informed.
The recovered ammunition has been seized and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the origin, intended use and possible links of the cache with militant groups operating in the region.
Officials said police have taken cognisance of the matter and a formal investigation is underway.
The recovery is being viewed as a significant success for security forces amid continued counter-terror operations across north Kashmir.
