Jammu, July 14, 2026 : A Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court has issued a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the Pakistan-based founder of the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Pahalgam terror attack.
The warrant was issued by the Special Judge of the NIA Court on July 8, 2026, two days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a supplementary chargesheet naming Hafiz Saeed in the case.
According to the investigation, Saeed has been linked to the conspiracy surrounding the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. The issuance of the non-bailable warrant marks another significant legal step in the agency’s efforts to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
Hafiz Saeed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba, is a designated global terrorist by both India and the United States. He is widely regarded as the mastermind behind the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks (26/11), one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in India’s history.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on April 22, 2025, claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists, after terrorists opened fire in the popular tourist destination in south Kashmir. The attack drew widespread condemnation and prompted an extensive investigation by the NIA into the larger terror conspiracy and those involved in planning, financing, and executing the assault.
The latest court order strengthens the legal proceedings against Hafiz Saeed as Indian agencies continue their investigation into the attack and pursue accountability for those accused of orchestrating cross-border terrorism.
