JAIPUR/NEW DELHI, May 8,2026 : Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday described Operation Sindoor as a powerful demonstration of the Indian armed forces’ swift, coordinated and precise response capability, asserting that the mission reflected India’s growing military prowess and collective national resolve.
Addressing senior military leadership at the ongoing joint commanders’ conference in Jaipur, Singh emphasised the importance of maintaining operational preparedness amid evolving regional and global security challenges.
He said Operation Sindoor symbolised a new military ethos built on integration, technological advancement and seamless coordination among the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Calling upon the armed forces to remain future-ready, the Defence Minister urged commanders to draw strategic lessons from the operation as well as from changing global conflict patterns. He stressed the urgent need to strengthen capabilities in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced data analytics and secure communication infrastructure.
According to an official statement, Singh highlighted that future conflicts would increasingly be defined by hybrid warfare, information dominance and simultaneous operations across cyber, space, electromagnetic and cognitive domains.
He underlined the importance of integrated national preparedness and said technological transformation was rapidly reshaping modern warfare across the world.
The Defence Minister also praised the progress achieved in enhancing jointness, operational integration and technological adoption across the three services. He termed inter-service synergy as a critical pillar of defence transformation.
“Future wars will not be won solely through weaponry, but through innovative thinking and enhanced synergy,” Singh said while addressing the commanders.
He further advised military leadership to cultivate the “element of surprise” to maintain unpredictability against adversaries and secure strategic superiority in conflict situations. At the same time, he cautioned commanders to remain constantly vigilant against surprise actions by hostile forces and stay “two steps ahead” at all times.
Reaffirming the commitment of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh said continuous efforts are being made to modernise the armed forces with state-of-the-art weapons systems and advanced platforms.
He added that special emphasis is also being placed on research and development in niche and emerging defence technologies to ensure India remains prepared for the challenges of next-generation warfare.
The remarks came a day after the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, which has increasingly been projected as a key example of India’s integrated military capability and strategic preparedness.
