PESHAWAR, May 9, 2026 : Pakistan security forces have killed five terrorists during intelligence-based operations carried out in the troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the Pakistan Army said on Saturday.
According to an official statement issued by the military, the operations were launched on May 7 and 8 in the Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence and movement of militants in the region.
The army stated that four terrorists linked to the banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during an intense exchange of fire in the Tank district. Another terrorist was neutralized in a separate operation conducted in Dera Ismail Khan.
Security forces reportedly carried out coordinated search and clearance operations in the affected areas to eliminate militant hideouts and prevent future terror activities. Officials said weapons, ammunition, and other incriminating materials were also recovered during the operations.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially districts bordering Afghanistan, has witnessed a surge in militant violence in recent months, with Pakistan intensifying counter-terror operations against insurgent groups operating in the region.
The Pakistan military reiterated its commitment to continuing intelligence-based operations to curb terrorism and maintain security in the volatile province.
Further investigations and sanitization operations are underway in both districts.
