New Delhi, July 30, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured full support from the Centre to tackle the flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, stating that the Union Government will continue working closely with both state governments to address the challenges caused by heavy rains, floods and landslides.

The assurance came after the Prime Minister met a delegation of Members of Parliament (MPs) from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland at Parliament House in New Delhi.

PM Reviews Flood Situation

Sharing details of the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said discussions focused on the impact of the floods and the ongoing relief efforts in the two northeastern states.

He reiterated that the Central Government remains committed to supporting the affected states and ensuring that relief and rehabilitation measures continue without interruption.

The Prime Minister also prayed for the safety and well-being of all those affected by the natural calamity.

Centre Directs Timely Relief & Restoration

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who attended the meeting, said the MPs briefed the Prime Minister about the prevailing flood situation in both states.

According to Rijiju, the Prime Minister assured complete assistance and has already directed the concerned authorities to ensure:

  • Immediate relief for affected families
  • Timely restoration of damaged infrastructure
  • Continuous support for rescue and rehabilitation efforts

Floods Continue to Batter Northeast

Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland have witnessed persistent heavy rainfall, triggering floods and landslides that have resulted in loss of lives, widespread damage to property and disruption of normal life.

The impact has also extended to neighbouring Assam, where heavy rains in Nagaland and parts of Assam have worsened the flood situation.

According to official reports:

  • More than 70 people have lost their lives in the floods.
  • Over three lakh people have been affected.
  • Vast stretches of land remain submerged across several districts.

Authorities continue rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations as weather conditions remain challenging in several parts of the Northeast.

The Centre has reiterated its commitment to working in close coordination with state governments to ensure timely assistance, restore essential services and support affected communities until the situation returns to normal.
