New Delhi, September 30, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, during which the two leaders reviewed the progress of India-US bilateral cooperation across key areas, including trade, defence, energy and critical technologies.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi and Trump also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including ongoing efforts to promote global peace and security.
Describing the conversation as “productive”, Prime Minister Modi said the two leaders discussed the progress of bilateral cooperation and agreed to maintain close engagement to advance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
“Had a productive conversation with President Trump. We reviewed our bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, energy, critical technologies and other areas. We agreed to maintain close engagement to take our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership forward,” Modi said in a post on social media platform X.
The Prime Minister also said the two leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues, including efforts to advance global peace and security.
In its statement, the PMO said both leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, energy, critical technologies and other areas of mutual interest. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and agreed to maintain close engagement to deepen cooperation for the benefit of the people of both countries.
The conversation comes as New Delhi and Washington continue high-level engagement on a broad range of strategic, economic and international issues. Trade, defence cooperation, energy and emerging technologies remain important areas of bilateral cooperation, alongside consultations on regional developments, including matters concerning the Indo-Pacific.
The two leaders also discussed ongoing international efforts aimed at promoting global peace and security. Their conversation highlighted the continued importance attached by both sides to sustained political engagement at the highest level.
The latest interaction between Modi and Trump signals continued high-level communication between India and the United States on bilateral, regional and global matters. According to the PMO, the two leaders agreed to remain in touch as they work to further deepen the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
