Jammu, May 28, 2026 : The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Rising Star Corps, Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat, on Thursday reviewed the operational preparedness and combat readiness of troops deployed in Punjab’s Pathankot and Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.
During the visit, the senior Army commander assessed the security situation, preparedness levels and coordination mechanisms of forces deployed in strategically important areas along the International Border.
In an official post shared on X, the Rising Star Corps stated that Lieutenant General Rajan Sharawat appreciated the troops for maintaining high operational standards, seamless integration and exceptional professionalism while carrying out their duties in sensitive border regions.
“GOC Rising Star Corps reviewed the operational preparedness of troops deployed in Pathankot and Kathua, appreciating their high standards of readiness, seamless integration and exemplary professionalism,” the corps said in the statement.
The Rising Star Corps is responsible for overseeing key operational sectors covering Kathua, Samba and parts of Jammu district, including several crucial International Border belts in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visit comes amid heightened security vigilance and ongoing operational preparedness across border districts to ensure effective response capabilities against any potential threat or cross-border activity.
Officials said the Army continues to maintain strong surveillance, coordination and deployment measures in border areas to safeguard national security and maintain stability in the region.
