The International World Championship, which drew competitors from across the globe, provided a platform for the finest practitioners of pencak silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art that blends self-defense with artistic expression. Aamina faced intense competition, demonstrating not only her physical strength but also her mental resilience throughout the event.
Aamina’s journey into the world of pencak silat began several years ago when she was first drawn to the discipline and strategy of the martial art. Reflecting on her silver medal victory at the fifth World Junior Championship in Abu Dhabi, Aamina shared her excitement: “The fifth World Junior Championship had recently taken place in Abu Dhabi where I participated and won the silver medal. Before that, I participated in national events in Srinagar and various states. I am a student of Nasir sir. This game is very different from other martial arts, and I found it very appealing. I entered the sport randomly at first, but then I was inspired as I received great support, so I decided to fully pursue it.”
