JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 ; Two people were killed and several others injured after a minibus overturned near the Bakkal Tunnel in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning.
According to officials, the minibus was travelling from Bakkal towards Reasi when it met with the accident near the tunnel. The vehicle overturned, leaving several passengers injured.
Rescue Operation Launched
Police personnel, assisted by local residents, immediately launched a rescue operation following the accident.
The injured passengers were evacuated from the vehicle and shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Officials said one passenger died at the spot, while another critically injured passenger succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital.
Two Shifted to GMC Jammu
Two of the injured passengers were later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for specialised treatment.
The exact circumstances that led to the minibus overturning are yet to be established. Further details regarding the identities of the deceased and injured passengers are awaited.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by passengers travelling on the hilly roads of the Jammu region, where road accidents can have severe consequences.
