UDHAMPUR, May 12, 2026 : The district administration in Udhampur has imposed a complete ban on the unauthorised sale of the newly introduced Indian Army camouflage uniform to prevent misuse and impersonation of security personnel.
The order was issued by District Magistrate Minga Sherpa following reports that the Army-pattern uniform could be misused by anti-social elements to pose as serving military personnel, triggering serious security concerns in the region.
Officials stated that the move is particularly significant as Udhampur hosts a major military presence and is home to several key defence establishments, including the headquarters of the Northern Command.
Speaking to reporters, the District Magistrate said the administration has prohibited the sale of the new camouflage fabric and uniforms by any unauthorised shop across the district to ensure that only authorised personnel have access to official military-pattern material.
“There are many Army-related shops here because a large number of Army personnel are stationed in this area. The restriction has been imposed to prevent impersonation and misuse,” he said.
The administration has further instructed enforcement agencies and local police to conduct strict monitoring and ensure full implementation of the order. Station House Officers (SHOs) across Udhampur have been directed to ensure that no shop sells camouflage fabric or uniforms resembling those officially used by the armed forces.
Authorities warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the directive.
The administration has also appealed to the public to stay alert and immediately report any illegal sale, suspicious activity or misuse of Army-pattern clothing to the police or district authorities.
