Jammu, September 9, 2026 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested a clerk posted at the Treasury Office in Kalakote, Rajouri, for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹20,000 bribe from a retired health department employee.
The accused has been identified as Khadam Hussain, officials said.
💰 Bribe Demanded for Processing Gratuity
According to the ACB, it received a written complaint from a retired fourth-class employee of the Health Department, who wanted to withdraw his ₹50,000 gratuity amount from the Treasury Office in Kalakote.
The complainant allegedly approached Hussain to process the case. The clerk reportedly demanded ₹25,000 as illegal gratification for facilitating the release of the gratuity.
The complainant told the official about his financial difficulties and requested him to reduce the amount. Following negotiations, the alleged bribe was reportedly settled at ₹20,000.
🚨 ACB Sets Trap
The complainant subsequently approached the ACB and submitted a written complaint seeking legal action.
The allegations were verified by the bureau and, after registration of a case, a trap team from ACB Police Station Rajouri was constituted.
During the operation, the ACB team allegedly caught Hussain red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant.
The accused clerk was arrested on the spot.
🔍 Searches Conducted
Following the arrest, ACB teams also conducted searches at Hussain’s residential premises in Rajouri in connection with the case.
Officials said further investigation is underway to establish all facts and determine whether there are any additional aspects to the alleged corruption.
The case highlights the ACB’s continued action against alleged corruption in government offices and the demand for illegal gratification in the delivery of public services.
