Anantnag, June 3, 2026 : In a significant blow to the narcotics network operating in South Kashmir, Anantnag Police on Wednesday attached a residential property worth nearly ₹60 lakh belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police officials, the attached property consists of a two-storey concrete residential house built on six marlas of land, with an estimated market value of around ₹60 lakh. The property belongs to Aasif Hussain Khan alias “Soab Don,” son of Abdul Gani Khan, a resident of Anchidora, Anantnag.
The attachment was executed under Section 68F of the NDPS Act after completion of all legal formalities. Investigations conducted by law enforcement agencies reportedly established that the property had been acquired through proceeds generated from illegal drug trafficking and other narcotics-related activities.
Police officials stated that the action forms part of an intensified campaign aimed at dismantling the financial foundations of the drug trade. By targeting assets allegedly accumulated through illicit means, authorities seek to ensure that individuals involved in narcotics trafficking do not continue to benefit from the proceeds of crime.
The move is being viewed as a strong message to those engaged in drug-related activities, highlighting the administration’s resolve to not only prosecute offenders but also deprive them of assets allegedly obtained through unlawful operations.
Reiterating its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the district, Anantnag Police urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information regarding drug peddling and other criminal activities. Officials affirmed that the crackdown against narcotics traffickers and their illegally acquired properties will continue in the coming days as part of a broader strategy to safeguard society from the harmful impact of drugs.
