JAMMU, April 24, 2026 : The Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has extended the deadline for manual acceptance of challans filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) until May 31, 2026, providing temporary relief amid ongoing technical challenges.
As per an order issued by the Registrar General, the extension will continue under the same terms and conditions outlined in earlier directives. However, the court has made it clear that this will be the final extension, signaling urgency in resolving the issue.
The arrangement relates to the manual submission of challans (charge sheets) due to difficulties in the digital filing system. The decision follows a series of similar extensions granted in 2025 and 2026.
Importantly, the court has directed the ACB and the Crime Branch to:
- Convene a joint meeting at the earliest
- Identify and resolve technical glitches
- Ensure the online data uploading system becomes fully functional within the extended timeframe
The directive underscores the judiciary’s push toward full digitisation while balancing practical challenges faced by investigative agencies.
