SRINAGAR, May 1, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday strongly refuted claims about the removal of Urdu, asserting that no such decision has been taken and accusing political opponents of spreading misinformation.
🗣️ Clear Denial by CM
Speaking to reporters, Omar Abdullah said:
- “There is no droppage of Urdu.”
- The government has only invited public feedback, not taken any final decision
- “People must understand the difference between seeking comments and policy action”
He added that no official order exists to remove Urdu and challenged critics to present any such document.
⚖️ Political Face-Off
Taking a direct swipe at PDP, particularly Iltija Mufti, the CM said:
- The issue is being misrepresented for political mileage
- The proposal, if any, is still under consideration and not approved
- “The file is on my table, and I have neither cleared it nor intend to,” he clarified

- Public consultation is part of democratic governance
- No subject has been dropped

The CM further accused the PDP of trying to divert public attention and engaging in politics based on misinformation rather than constructive issues.
