JAMMU, May 27, 2026 : Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated across Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday with deep religious fervour and devotion as large congregations of Muslims gathered at mosques and eidgahs to offer special prayers amid tight security arrangements.
The sacred festival, commemorating the devotion and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), witnessed thousands of worshippers participating in Eid prayers across the Union Territory.
The largest congregation in Jammu was held at the Eidgah on Residency Road, while significant gatherings were also witnessed at Mecca Masjid Bathindi and Jamia Masjid Talab Khatikan.
Following the prayers, devotees performed the traditional ritual sacrifice of animals, including sheep, goats and cattle, symbolising faith, obedience and submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
Religious scholars and community leaders extended Eid greetings and prayed for peace, prosperity, harmony and well-being across Jammu & Kashmir and the entire world.
Security forces maintained heightened vigilance and elaborate arrangements at sensitive locations to ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations throughout the region.
Sunni Islamic scholar and Shahi Imam of Jamia Masjid Khadike Talab, Mufti Inayatullah Qasmi, also extended Eid greetings to the people and prayed for happiness, relief, good health and prosperity for all.
“We extend Eid Mubarak greetings to everyone. Prayers are being offered across Jammu and Kashmir, and we pray that Allah bless everyone with peace, happiness and wellbeing,” he said.
