SRINAGAR, May 27, 2026 : The Jammu & Kashmir Government has ordered a formal inquiry into the tragic incident that occurred during construction work on the Bhargi to Kunan road in Block Gandoh of Doda district and has suspended two engineers pending investigation.
According to Government Order No. 184-PW(R&B) of 2026 dated May 26, Engineer-in-Chief (Secretary Technical), Public Works (R&B) Department, Er. Purshotam Kumar, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer to investigate the incident involving the construction of a 6.00-meter span culvert on the road stretch.
The government has directed the Inquiry Officer to submit a detailed report within 15 days from the issuance of the order.
Pending inquiry into their conduct, the government has also placed two officials under suspension with immediate effect.
The suspended officers include Er. Naveen Kumar, Incharge Assistant Executive Engineer, and Er. Imtiaz Ahmed Shah, Junior Engineer of PMGSY Division Thathri, Sub Division Gandoh.
As per the official order, both officers will remain attached with the Office of the Chief Engineer, PMGSY Jammu during the suspension period and will receive suspension allowance as admissible under rules.
The order was issued by Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Public Works (R&B) Department, Anil Kumar Singh IAS.
The action comes after the tragic culvert collapse incident in Doda district that resulted in the death of a woman labourer and injuries to several workers during construction work.
