Doda, September 17, 2025: The Cyber Police Station Doda, under the supervision of SSP Doda Sandeep Mehta JKPS, has emerged as the top-performing unit in the Jammu Zone for recovering lost and stolen mobile phones through the CEIR Portal, according to a statement issued by J&K Police District Doda.
Led by Insp. Surinder Veer and PSI Ankush Nagra (Nodal CEIR), the team demonstrated exceptional professionalism, technical expertise, and commitment in combating cybercrime. Their efforts led to the successful recovery of 57 lost mobile phones from various States and Union Territories, with an estimated total value of ₹8.87 lakh.
Additionally, the team traced and recovered online defrauded money totaling ₹8,00,835 during the course of their investigation. The Electronic Service Unit (ESU), headed by PSI Sahil Kumar, played a key role in deploying advanced technical methods that enabled the recovery.
At a press conference held at District Police Headquarters Doda, SSP Sandeep Mehta handed over the recovered mobile devices to their rightful owners. Expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the Cyber Police team, SSP Mehta also appealed to the public to take extra care of their mobile devices, emphasizing that mobile phones contain sensitive personal data and are susceptible to misuse if lost or stolen.
He further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any incidents of lost or stolen devices by calling the national helpline number 1930, lodging complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in, or registering lost devices at www.ceir.gov.in.
It is noteworthy that, so far, the Cyber Police Station Doda has recovered a total of 276 mobile phones worth ₹47.29 lakh and defrauded money totaling ₹56.77 lakh, underlining its role in strengthening cyber security in the region.
