Srinagar, September 20, 2025 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday highlighted the extensive damages caused by recent floods and rains in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for urgent relief measures during the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to the region.
Addressing the media, CM Omar said:

Over 330 bridges have been washed away.

More than 1,500 km of roads destroyed.

Significant losses to government buildings, crops, and dry fruits.

Human casualties, particularly during the two yatras in Kishtwar and Katra, have added to the tragedy.
He added that the state government has already assessed the damages and will present the situation directly to the Prime Minister, hoping for a comprehensive relief package to compensate affected communities.
“The loss has been immense, and we hope the Prime Minister will announce a relief package for the people of J&K,” Omar said, emphasizing the need for immediate support to rebuild infrastructure and restore livelihoods.
