Jammu, August 21, 2026 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday stressed the need for strong community participation to eliminate terrorism, substance abuse and corruption while promoting economic development and a spiritual renaissance across the Union Territory.
Sinha was speaking after laying the foundation stone of Amriteshwar Sarovar under the Jan Sanchay Jan Bhagidari initiative at Dharpur in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri district.
During his visit, the Lieutenant Governor also paid obeisance at the Shri Amriteshwar Shiv Temple before addressing a public gathering.
‘Whole-of-Society Approach Needed’
Sinha said community solidarity has a critical role in confronting terrorism, drug abuse and corruption and in creating an environment conducive to economic growth and social development.
“Security forces alone cannot defeat terrorism. Eradicating this threat demands a whole-of-society approach,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He called for a united effort involving citizens, police and security agencies to dismantle the financial and logistical networks supporting narco-terrorism.
Sinha urged people to remain vigilant against the activities of anti-national elements, promptly report suspicious movements or activities and completely isolate individuals and groups supporting terrorism.
Security Landscape Has Changed
The Lieutenant Governor said sustained efforts by the Army, security forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration and local communities had significantly weakened terrorism and contributed to a major transformation in the region’s security environment.
He highlighted the growing public participation in national life as an important indicator of the changing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“It was once grimly predicted that the Tricolour would find no willing hands to carry it in Jammu and Kashmir. Today, it is held high with pride on countless resolute shoulders,” Sinha said.
Spiritual Revival and Community Bonding
Sinha also spoke about what he described as a broader spiritual and cultural revival in the country and said its impact was being felt across Jammu and Kashmir.
“India is going through a great spiritual revival. This cultural wave is felt across Jammu-Kashmir, bringing people closer together and strengthening our community bonds,” he said.
He emphasised that stronger community bonds could contribute not only to social harmony but also to the region’s economic and developmental progress.
Assures Action on Public Issues
Responding to issues and demands raised by residents during his visit, Sinha assured the gathering that the administration would make sincere efforts to address public grievances and local infrastructure requirements.
The Lieutenant Governor’s remarks underline the administration’s emphasis on combining security measures with community participation, social awareness and development to build a stronger and more resilient Jammu and Kashmir.
