The Budgam to Adarsh Nagar route achieved a historic milestone, delivering apples in less than 21 hours, while another van reached Jammu in under 6 hours.
On September 15, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off an eight-parcel van coach train from Srinagar to Delhi, each coach with a 23-tonne capacity. The service launch coincided with the closure of the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar highway due to damage from heavy rains between August 26 and September 6.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal hailed the achievement as a major step in ensuring timely transport of perishable goods, helping farmers and maintaining supply chains despite road disruptions.
