Kathua, April 14, 2026 : Intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, Manoj Sinha has directed police authorities across Jammu and Kashmir to prepare “Top Drug Peddlers” lists at every police station and dismantle narcotics networks within a strict 30-day timeframe.

The directive was issued during a massive public rally at Sports Stadium Kathua under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, where the Lt Governor launched a people-driven movement against drug abuse.

Calling it a “people’s revolution,” Sinha emphasized that eradicating drugs requires collective action from society, government, and institutions. “Drugs don’t just destroy individuals—they erode entire communities. We must unite to protect our youth,” he said.

Outlining a clear strategy, the Lt Governor announced a 100-day roadmap divided into six phases, focusing on awareness, community engagement, strict enforcement, rehabilitation, and long-term sustainability. He stressed that the next three months will be crucial in shaping a drug-free future for the Union Territory.

Taking a tough stance against traffickers, Sinha warned of strict action under the NDPS Act, including confiscation of properties, freezing of bank accounts, and cancellation of passports, Aadhaar, driving licences, and arms licences of those involved in drug trade.

At the same time, he highlighted the need for compassion towards victims of addiction, stating that addicts should be treated as patients requiring support and rehabilitation rather than stigma. He called for strengthening accessible and humane de-addiction centres across the region.

The Lt Governor also urged women’s self-help groups to form vigilance squads to monitor and report drug-related activities, reinforcing community participation as a key pillar of the campaign.

Encouraging grassroots involvement, he called upon NGOs, youth, and civil society to actively contribute to awareness and feedback mechanisms, stating that empowered youth can become the strongest force against drugs.

On the occasion, Sinha administered an anti-drug pledge and launched the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Anthem, while cultural performances and awareness programmes further energized the campaign.

The move signals a decisive escalation in enforcement and community mobilisation efforts to eliminate drug abuse and trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir.
